Senior research fellow at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), based at the Center for International Studies and Research (CERI/Sciences-Po), Paris. He was chief editor of the French academic quarterly Politique africaine from 2002 to 2006. He has an extensive research record on the conflicts and politics in Africa, with a focus on the Horn of Africa.
