Maître-assistant in the department of social sciences at the University of Bamako, Mali. From 1998 to 2003, Dougnon worked on labor migration from Dogon country to the Office du Niger (Mali) and to Ghana, about which he published his first book Travail de Blanc, travail de Noir: La migration des paysans dogons vers l’Office du Niger et au Ghana (1910–1980) (Paris: Khartala, 2007). More recently, he co-edited, with Christophe Daum, Hommes et Migrations no. 1279 (May–June 2009), a special issue entitled ‘‘L’Afrique en mouvement: un autre regard.’’ His current research focuses on modern work and connected topics in Malian society.
